The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa has congratulated the Governor of Anambra State and National Leader of APGA, His Excellency Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, on the occasion of his 65th birthday anniversary, celebrated today, July 28, 2025.


In a statement issued on behalf of the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, entire membership and teeming supporters of APGA, Barr. Ezeokenwa described Governor Soludo as a distinguished statesman whose contributions to the economic and political development of Nigeria remain indelible.


“Your Excellency, this milestone offers us a fitting opportunity to celebrate not only your sterling achievements as a world-renowned economist and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, but also your enduring legacy of public service, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the progress of Anambra State and our great party, APGA,” the National Chairman said.


Barr. Ezeokenwa commended Governor Soludo’s transformative approach to governance, noting that his administration has continued to blaze the trail in infrastructural development, human capital investment, youth empowerment, and financial prudence. “Your bold reforms, particularly initiatives like ‘One Youth, Two Skills’, have positioned Anambra as a beacon of progressive leadership in Nigeria,” he added.


According to the APGA Chairman, Soludo’s leadership has reinvigorated the party, bringing renewed energy, direction, and credibility to APGA’s presence on the national stage. He emphasized that the Governor’s strides in office have not only benefited Anambra but have also projected the ideals of APGA to a wider audience.


“As you mark 65 years of grace, excellence and impactful service, we join millions of Nigerians and friends across the world to wish you more fruitful years ahead. Your life continues to inspire hope, courage, and possibilities in leadership,” Barr. Ezeokenwa said.


He further described Soludo as a man of vision whose political journey has remained rooted in principles of equity, justice, and innovation. “You have consistently shown what is possible when purposeful leadership meets competent execution,” he noted.


The APGA National Chairman also prayed for divine wisdom, strength, and protection upon the Governor as he continues to navigate the complex responsibilities of governance and party leadership. “We are confident that your best years are still ahead, and that APGA and Anambra will continue to flourish under your guidance,” he added.


While expressing joy over the remarkable journey of the Governor so far, Barr. Ezeokenwa called on party faithful and Nigerians to continue supporting Governor Soludo in his drive to transform Anambra State and uplift the fortunes of APGA.

The Southwest leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), under the able leadership of Alhaji Suraj Owolabi, has congratulated the Governor of Anambra State and National Leader of APGA, His Excellency Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, on the occasion of his 65th birthday.


In a congratulatory message made available to the press, Alhaji Suraj Owolabi described Governor Soludo as a visionary leader, astute economist, and dedicated patriot whose life and career have been defined by excellence, integrity, and service to the nation. 


He lauded the Governor’s unwavering commitment to public welfare, reforms, and the transformation of Anambra State into a model for good governance and development.


The Southwest APGA Chairman acknowledged Governor Soludo’s exceptional leadership, noting that his tenure as Governor has brought visible improvements in infrastructure, education, health, and youth empowerment in Anambra State. He emphasized that Soludo's policies and programs reflect the true spirit of APGA’s ideology—progressive, people-oriented, and inclusive.

Onitsha South Bids Farewell to Chief Sylvester Ezeokenwa, Celebrates His Legacy of Service to APGA

As preparations intensify for the final burial rites of Late Chief Sylvester Anyarue Chukwuma Ezeokenwa, the father of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, the people of Onitsha South Local Government Area have organized a solemn lying-in-state ceremony at the Onitsha South Local Government Secretariat in honour of the departed elder statesman.

In keeping with the APGA philosophy of onye aghana nwanne ya (be your brother’s keeper) both in times of joy and sorrow, Hon. Chief Benjamin C. Obidigwe, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in the 9th Assembly, joined thousands of party faithful from Onitsha South in paying their final respects to the late Chief Ezeokenwa.

Before his passing, Chief Sylvester Ezeokenwa played crucial and instrumental roles in the growth and success of APGA in Onitsha South. He served diligently in various leadership capacities, helping to secure the party’s electoral victories within the council and beyond. His contributions to the party’s progress remain an enduring part of APGA’s history in the area.

The decision to hold this lying-in-state at the council secretariat was a deliberate move to acknowledge and celebrate his selfless service in promoting grassroots leadership and advancing participatory democracy in Onitsha South. His leadership legacy, according to stakeholders, is deeply woven into the fabric of the party’s successes.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Obidigwe recounted his longstanding relationship with the late Chief Ezeokenwa, describing it as cordial, impactful, and instrumental in shaping many political and communal milestones. He lamented the loss of a rare gem, describing the deceased as a sincere and selfless politician, a father figure, and a servant of the people whose departure has created a significant void in the APGA family.

Obidigwe further urged the children of the deceased, especially the APGA National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, to take heart and find solace in the fact that their father lived a life of purpose, impact, and legacy. He prayed for God’s grace to strengthen the family through this period of mourning and for the departed soul to find eternal rest.

In his own remarks, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa expressed profound gratitude to the leadership and people of Onitsha South, APGA members, and the Anambra State Government for honouring his father in such an elaborate and dignified manner. He noted that his father’s legacy of service, humility, and love for humanity would remain a guiding light for him personally and for the party.

Barr. Ezeokenwa reaffirmed his commitment to upholding his father’s values of loyalty, sacrifice, and dedication, assuring that APGA would continue to honour the memory of those who gave their all for the party’s success. “The reward for this love and honour will manifest in our collective victory and unity as we approach the coming elections,” he said.

The lying-in-state event was a solemn but inspiring reminder of the impact one life can have through service, leadership, and commitment to community and party ideals. The funeral rites will continue with a Requiem Mass on Friday, July 19, 2025, at Immaculate Heart Parish, Fegge, Onitsha, before his final interment in his hometown of Umuchu.

The final journey to eternal rest for the revered community leader and devout Catholic, Chief Hon. Sir Sylvester Anyarue Chukwuma Ezeokenwa, KSJI (Ezeudo Umuchu), commenced on Wednesday, 17th July 2025, with a solemn valedictory session held at the Onitsha South Local Government Headquarters. The session provided a platform for friends, political associates, and well-wishers to reflect on his immense contributions to governance, community development, and human capital advancement.

The events continued with a special rite of cancellation conducted at the Temple of the Knights of St. John International, St. Jude Commandary. This sacred ritual highlighted his commitment and active service within the noble order and served as a spiritual send-forth among his fellow knights.

On Thursday, 18th July 2025, a Requiem Mass was held in his honour, attracting a congregation of religious leaders, political dignitaries, and members of the public who gathered to pray for the peaceful repose of his soul. The Mass was marked by heartfelt homilies and tributes celebrating his life of service, philanthropy, and unwavering faith in God.

Yesterday evening, a solemn Vigil Mass took place at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Parish, Amanasaa, Umuchu. The event brought together Bishops, numerous priests, captains of industry, political leaders, associates, and the Umuchu community at large. The service was deeply reflective and spiritual, reinforcing the legacy of faith, humility, and communal service that defined the life of Ezeudo.

Today, Saturday, 19th July 2025, the final funeral rites are being observed at his hometown in Umuchu, Aguata Local Government Area. The community is gathering to pay their last respects to a man whose influence extended far beyond his immediate environment, touching countless lives through his leadership, mentorship, and generous spirit.

Throughout these days of mourning, one message has resonated clearly: Great men live forever. Ezeudo’s legacy of faith, service, and humanity remains indelibly etched in the hearts of all who encountered him. His life stands as a beacon of integrity, selflessness, and dedication to the betterment of others.

As prayers continue to ascend for the peaceful repose of his soul, the family of the deceased, especially his son, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), expresses profound gratitude to all who have shown solidarity in this period of grief. May the soul of Chief Sir Sylvester Ezeokenwa rest in perfect peace. Amen.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, on Friday, July 18, 2025, embarked on a significant visit to various Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) centers across Onitsha South and Onitsha North Local Government Areas of Anambra State. The visit was part of his wider engagement within the state ahead of the upcoming valedictory session in honor of his late father, Chief (Hon.) Sir Sylvester Anyarue Chukwuma Ezeokenwa, KSJI.

Barr. Ezeokenwa commenced his day at the Onitsha South LGA Secretariat in Woliwo, where he interacted with APGA stakeholders and local leaders before proceeding to monitor the ongoing voter registration exercise. His tour took him to several wards and centers where he assessed the process and encouraged residents to take advantage of the opportunity to either register afresh or update their voter details.

The National Chairman visited key CVR centers including St. Monica's Anglican Church in Woliwo (Fegge Ward 7), Ugborimili Primary School (Bridge Head Ward 2), Zik’s Avenue Primary School (Fegge Ward 4), Metu Memorial Secondary School (Odoakpu Ward 7), and the Odoakpu Ward 4 CVR center. At each stop, he was warmly received by both residents and INEC officials who were visibly engaged with the high turnout of prospective voters.

During his visit, Barr. Ezeokenwa interacted with enthusiastic residents, many of whom expressed their readiness to fully participate in the forthcoming elections. He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials for their professionalism, efficiency, and patience in handling the large crowds. He praised their commitment to upholding the integrity of the democratic process through a transparent voter registration exercise.

In his remarks to the press, Barr. Ezeokenwa expressed satisfaction with the massive turnout of residents and urged more people to take advantage of the ongoing registration exercise. He emphasized that voter registration is a fundamental civic responsibility and a necessary step towards electing credible leaders who can deliver good governance.

“The energy and passion I witnessed today are clear indicators that our democracy is thriving. I commend the INEC officials for maintaining high standards of service and applaud the people of Onitsha for turning out in such impressive numbers. This is how democracy should work,” Ezeokenwa stated.

The APGA National Chairman further reaffirmed the party’s commitment to grassroots mobilization, noting that APGA remains steadfast in promoting political participation at all levels. He stated that the future of Nigeria’s democracy rests on the shoulders of an active and informed electorate, and APGA would continue to champion causes that empower the people.

Barr.
